School is now in full swing and things are starting to get real busy. I'm having to complete 2-3 assignments per week and thats not even counting mid-terms! I am definitely looking forward to February break. I'll be sure to make the most out of this February break because it could be the very last February break I ever have. It sounds like the school system may remove the February break and then have students start school after the labour day long weekend and even get a few extra days off during the Christmas break.

Today's ETAD 470 Class
Today is groundhog day. Yay, early spring, if we haven't got it already, it's so nice out! I really enjoyed my ETAD 470 class today. I learnt a bunch of new different web tools that are educational like slideshare, prezi and livebinders. I liked how Professor Ross put us into groups and made us present the different web tools to the class. It nice to actually research your own tool and present it to the class. I think you learn a lot more when you do your own research and then teach it towards your peers. Its also enjoyable to have your colleagues present information to you as well. Its nice to have a little change rather than taking information in from the professors lectures as usual.

I agree that todays class was a great one for sure! I have a nice list of some new tools to check out and see if they are for me.
ReplyDeleteAs for Feb break, yes you can kiss it good bye. I know the schools around me, including my kids school has been informed that there is no Feb break next school year thanks to the Sask Parties shifting the day students start in the fall until after labour day.
Well, so now its set in stone. I don't know what to think of that, whether it is good or bad. I guess all you can do is wait until next year and see what it feels like.
DeleteI also have mixed feelings about not having February break. I was actually unaware that this was happening for sure! I guess February break is very close to Christmas break and Easter break, but I still cannot imagine not having it! However, I might appreciate having a longer summer. I will have to be like you Dylan and really appreciate this February break. Of course it is the first one in a few years that I am not going away on a hot trip.. oh well, maybe I will catch up on some homework.
ReplyDeleteMy co-op teacher had told me that I might never get to teach with a February break and I was so sad! By the end of summer I don't care if I have to come back a week early--it's in the middle of our (usually) cold, long winter that a break is very welcome to students and teachers alike! I would be so sad to see that happen :( Besides, parents who want to get away will still take their kids out of school, and the teachers will have to put in a little extra work trying to get the caught up and help them with what they missed. So, there will be a lot of students who still get the break, but teachers will lose out big time! Perfect.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed our class today although I was enjoying the class discussion and was dissapointed when we had to get back on topic. As for feb break, I grew up in BC and we didn't start until after labour day and still got a spring break in March so it is possible to do both. The governmemnt just needs to smarten up.
